Frequently Asked QuestionsHow does Kamp verify that I'm a real student?
To unlock your school's feed, you must verify your status using your school email (e.g.
student@unilag.edu.ng) or by uploading a student document. We verify the credential once, convert your verified status into an anonymous cryptographic token, and immediately purge the raw verification email from our database. We do not store your email.Can Kamp trace my anonymous posts back to my identity?
No. Your posts are saved using a unique
poster_id which is a SHA-256 cryptographic hash of your user account combined with a secure server-only secret key (SHA-256(user_id + SECRET)). This hashing is one-way and mathematically irreversible. We do not know who posted what, and a database leak cannot expose your email.What happens if my post is flagged?
Kamp is self-moderated by students. If your post receives 3 flags, it is temporarily hidden from the feed and you get a warning. If it reaches 5 flags, the post is permanently deleted. Accumulating multiple deleted posts will result in your verified token being banned.
How do Kampfires work?
Kampfires are temporary group chats that form around hot campus gossip or events. Anyone can launch a Kampfire. Rooms that receive enough votes start trending. To keep discussions fresh, every Kampfire room and all its messages expire and are deleted permanently after 24 hours.
Can I delete my own posts?
Yes. You can delete any post or comment you made instantly from the app. Once deleted, it is wiped from the database and vanishes from all feeds immediately.
How do I get my university added to Kamp?
Currently, Phase 1 supports 13 major campuses in Nigeria. If your school isn't supported yet, send us an email at
support@kamp.ng. We prioritize new campuses based on the volume of student requests from those schools.
